I built a .txt file that gives AI assistants persistent memory — $49 on Gumroad, zero sales, looking for feedback

I've been using Claude and ChatGPT daily for about a year — managing projects, making decisions, tracking finances, running an options strategy. The problem everyone knows: every new chat starts from zero.

So I built something for myself: a single text file that functions as an operating system for AI assistants. Upload it at the start of a chat and your AI stops starting over.

What it is: ContinuityFile — a ~25,000-word .txt file with 11 modular systems. Identity & role definition, decision guardrails with approval workflows, daily anchor loops, a solvency-first finance framework, behavioral protocol decision trees, and an options trading engine validated on 13,000+ simulation paths.

It's not a prompt template. It's a structured system with governance rules, execution surfaces, and a patch protocol so the file evolves with you.

Why a text file: Portability. Works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama — anything that accepts uploads. No API, no plugin, no vendor lock-in. And you can read every rule the AI is working with. No black-box memory features.

Current state:

  • v2.30, ~161 KB, 3,500+ lines
  • $49 on Gumroad (early-adopter price, down from $99)
  • Lifetime updates included — one purchase, every future version
  • Zero sales so far. The only marketing was one LinkedIn post months ago.

I'm being transparent about that last point because I think the product is solid but the distribution is nonexistent. I use the personal edition daily. The commercial version is a cleaned-up, generalized edition anyone can customize.

What I'm looking for: Honest feedback. Is the value proposition clear? Is $49 the right price for a text file (even one this deep)? Would a free excerpt or trial module change the conversion math?

I made this — happy to answer questions about any of the modules or the architecture behind it.

The honest answer on zero sales: this is almost entirely a distribution problem, not a product problem. One LinkedIn post is statistically zero marketing — it might as well not have happened.

The value proposition has a specific friction point though. "A .txt file for $49" triggers an immediate psychological resistance that "a system for $49" doesn't, even if they're the same thing. People pay for outcomes and systems, not file formats. The way you're describing it in the post — persistent memory, stops starting from zero, governance rules, decision trees — is actually compelling. The word ".txt file" undercuts it. Lead with what it does, bury what it is.

The real question is where your buyer actually lives. Claude and ChatGPT power users who'd pay $49 for this are probably on Reddit (r/ChatGPT, r/ClaudeAI), Hacker News, or Discord communities around AI productivity — not LinkedIn. Have you posted anywhere those people actually congregate?
