I built a typing translator because copy-paste translation was killing my focus

Hey IH πŸ‘‹

I'm a developer who works with international clients daily. My workflow used to look like this:

  1. Type a reply in my language

  2. Copy it

  3. Switch to Google Translate

  4. Paste, wait, copy the result

  5. Switch back, paste, send

Repeat this 30+ times a day across Slack, email, and WhatsApp. It's not that each step is hard β€” it's the constant context switching that drains you mentally.

So I built InputTranslator β€” a Windows desktop app where you just type in any input field, press a hotkey, and your text gets translated and replaced instantly. No window switching. No copy-paste.

After using it myself for months, the biggest change wasn't productivity β€” it was that communicating in other languages stopped feeling like a chore.

Some details:

  • Works in any app (Slack, WhatsApp, email, browser β€” anywhere you can type)

  • Powered by AI translation APIs (DeepL, Google, OpenAI, etc.)

  • One hotkey to translate, one to translate and send

  • Already have paying users from Germany and Moldova

I'd love to hear your feedback. Have you experienced this same pain point?
