I built a video rendering API

Hey IH community, it's Michael here. After raising $1,000,000 the Motionbox team and I have been working hard on finding product market fit.

I found with a case study our tool could be best suited for developers looking to render videos programmatically.

So far there are two case studies to show you what is possible. The first one being a Tweet bot that turns tweets into cool videos based on a template you pre-make i.e https://twitter.com/michaelaubry/status/1458171092107862021

The other use case is what our friends at Alias made, a text snippet to video creator https://twitter.com/jonathanmcai/status/1443729430187163676 check the video out at 00:15:00.

An API like this can open the door up for many use cases, I'll leave that into the hands of the developers. Some quick ideas I have for it are the following.

  • User testimonials raw videos pass through API and get intro/outro
  • Text based content turned into a video
  • Mass product product videos (or any videos) where a few elements can be dynamic i.e screenshot and title
  • Connect to streams like Twitter or RSS and trigger a render based on rules

The list could go on, but before I make the same mistake I made building https://motionbox.io without validating, I want to see if there is some desire for something like this, or am I too soon?

One love
