Hey everyone đź‘‹
I recently launched StudyHall — and it’s probably the simplest product I’ve built, but also the hardest to explain.
The problem I’m trying to solve is this:
Working alone all day is… fine at first.
But over time it gets isolating, and your focus drifts more than you’d like to admit.
I’ve tried everything:
Pomodoro timers, productivity apps, even random Zoom coworking sessions.
None of them really stuck.
What actually worked for me was something much simpler:
just having other people “around” while working — no pressure to talk, just quiet presence.
So I built StudyHall.
It’s basically a virtual workspace:
• Small rooms with people working quietly
• Cameras on (optional), mics off
• No forced interaction, no facilitation
• You just join, work, and leave when you’re done
Think of it like sitting in a library or a café—but from home.
The key idea is presence, not productivity hacks.
Right now, the biggest challenge is the classic cold start:
an empty room is useless, so I’m figuring out how to seed the first active users.
If you’ve dealt with similar problems (or just struggle with focus while working alone), I’d love your thoughts.
You can try it here:

Happy to hear brutal feedback.

"The 'cold start' problem is tough, but the library vibe is exactly what remote builders need. Quiet presence is better than any timer.
To get those first active users, you should bring StudyHall into the Validation Arena (tokyolore.com).
It’s a 30-day sprint where you compete to get the most traction.
The prize pool just opened at $0 right now, so you can lead the board.
The winner wins a trip to Tokyo! 🏆
