I built a website for indies to share their apps and gain more visiblity
Hey, indie people! 👋
Couple of days ago I had a slow and boring afternoon. And usually, when that happens, my mind goes like brrrrrr.
So I had an idea to build something quick.
I have always wanted to give back to this amazing community of people.
The amount of support I've gotten from our community of makers throughout the years has been amazing.
So I wanted to make something, where people like me and you can share in a quick and simple way what they're working on.
That's how the idea of Apps On Grid was born.
I grabbed my laptop and a couple of hours later it was live.
So let me present you Apps On Grid (AOG)
A directory of apps, built by indie makers, solopreneurs and small teams.
The whole thing is one big grid of 12 columns, where each cell of the grid holds an app logo.
The submissions are approved by me, that's why it may take some time to see your app featured on the GRID.
It's absolutely free (altho you can buy an expansion).
I'd be happy to see y'all on the GRID.
Also, any feedback is more than welcomed.

When I read your description, it for some reason reminded me of modulargrid.net which is for synth nerds like me. Although that's more of a wiki and doesn't require approval, I can see why you'd need to in this case, for now at least.
But using that popular site as a reference, it gives me the following ideas:
As this thing grows it'd be nice to see filters and such for the business type. It'd also be nice to see it with different views, so you could spread the grid out to have a title and <50 words text.
Some tags would be nice too for categorisation. For example the people who put their product on could have up to 5 tags which describe their business. This helps with the filtering process.
Would potentially be a good place for people who are looking to buy too.

Yes, I'm sure at some point things are going to change in the directions you mentioned - filters, different views, categorization, etc. I see it happening when the thing gets too big with ~200+ apps on it. :)

That's a cool thing! There should definitely be more people and platforms supporting this community.
But I'd definitely re-work the design of the page to give it a much more cleaner and modern look.

Can you please elaborate a bit on the design. What could be approved so that it looks a bit more modern?
Good question! You could e.g. improve the grid layout. Maybe provide a bit more information instead of just the icon. Maybe add the app name and a short description. Because on the first sight, you can only see the icons which are not really self-explanatory.
Only iphone apps?
