Hi Indie Hackers!
I’m the solo founder of Contador de Palabras Pro.
I’ve always been bothered by how simple online utilities (like word counters) often act as data vacuums. When you are writing a thesis, a legal draft, or a sensitive SEO article, the last thing you want is to "leak" that content to a random server or have it used to train someone else's AI model.
The Solution: I decided to build a version that speaks "Privacy" in silver: 100% Client-Side Processing.
I used JavaScript to ensure that every single word, character, and SEO metric is calculated directly in the user's browser. Your text never leaves your computer.
Key Features for the "Crunch" time:
Speech-to-Time Calculator: Essential for students preparing their TFG/Thesis defense. It estimates your speaking time as you write your script.
Academic Limits: Pre-set goals for University Abstracts and Social Media.
Premium PWA Experience: Smooth dark mode and animations because productivity shouldn't be ugly.
The Business Model: I'm monetizing through non-intrusive advertising (Vignette & In-Page Push). It allows me to keep the tool free for students while covering the costs of hosting and development.
I’d love your feedback on:
The UI/UX: Does the new purple/dark aesthetic feel "premium" enough?
Privacy: Do you think "Local Processing" is a strong enough USP (Unique Selling Proposition) to compete with the big established players?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
