Hey Indie Hackers 👋
I’m a self-taught indie dev and recently launched my first mobile app.
The idea came from a very real moment — a grape jelly spill that was about to permanently ruin a family member’s carpet. I realized how easy it is to make stains worse by guessing or using generic advice. Fabric, stain type, and timing all matter.
I built StainSlayer AI, an app where you take a photo of a stain (clothes, carpet, upholstery, etc.) and get step-by-step instructions tailored to that specific situation.
I used AI heavily as a learning tool while building this and I’m still improving it based on real-world feedback.
Would love thoughts from this community — especially on onboarding, clarity of instructions, or where this could be more useful.
Congrats on the launch, looks solid. What channels are you experimenting with to get early users?
Quick extra context:
One thing I’m especially unsure about is onboarding. Stains are an “only when you need it” problem, so I’m experimenting with how to explain value fast without overcomplicating things.
If anyone has thoughts on how they’d want an app like this to guide them in the first 30 seconds, I’m all ears.
