I built an AI fashion app to see trendy outfits on people with your body type (finally building something I actually want to use)

Hey Indie Hackers šŸ‘‹

I’ve built a few side projects in the past. Most of them never really took off. They were ā€œcool ideasā€ but not things I deeply cared about.

This time, I flipped the script. I asked: What’s something I’d genuinely use myself?

That’s how GenOutfit came to life.

I like to dress well for work, date nights, weddings, you name it. But there’s always been this friction: I’d see a great outfit online and think, ā€œWould this actually look good on me?ā€ Most fashion inspiration is modeled on tall, slim influencers, and I’m… not built like that šŸ˜…

My girlfriend loves browsing Pinterest and Instagram for outfit ideas. That got me thinking, what if she could have her own personal version of Pinterest? What if everyone could have their own personalized outfit inspiration photos?

So I built GenOutfit. It’s a web app that:

• Uses AI to generate realistic outfit images based on your body type, skin tone, and gender
• Pulls inspiration from real fashion influencers (I scraped and categorized 97 Instagram accounts so far)
• Suggests outfits by occasion like date night, casual, office, etc.
• Helps people make better fashion decisions without the guesswork

The outfit ideas are AI-generated, but the inspiration is real and current. I'm also working on automating the content sourcing so the recommendations stay fresh.

If you’re building something similar or have thoughts on the product, landing page, or growth ideas, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Cheers,
Dino
