I built an AI-free, login-free anonymous Q&A. After a month of real-world traffic, here is what I learned about human-to-human connection.

A few months ago, I got completely burnt out by the endless walls of AI-generated content, SEO-optimized blog spam, and algorithmic echo chambers everywhere online. So, as a solo developer, I built an antidote: an anonymous question-and-answer space with one absolute rule — no AI responses allowed. Every single reply must come from a real, living human.

Here is the setup:

Zero friction: No login, no email, no phone number required. Users drop vulnerable or weird questions, and strangers answer. (I use an anonymous recovery token instead of traditional accounts.)

Language separation: English and Chinese conversation pools are strictly isolated so they never mix.

Built-in safety: Every item has a simple report button for moderation.

It’s been live for a bit now, and the raw, unpolished numbers are steady:

~1,100 unique user sessions

458 public questions submitted

1,049 human replies generated

The Hardest Part: Getting Real Engagement
When you remove AI, you hit a massive cold-start paradox: It is surprisingly difficult to get strangers to write thoughtful, genuine replies for free.

On many anonymous platforms, people love asking questions because it's easy to vent, but no one wants to stick around to answer. To combat this, I implemented a lightweight, karma-like reward system that encourages users to pitch in. It turned out to work much better than I initially expected, driving most of that 1,000+ reply count.

A Few Independent Realities:
Traffic is a slow burn: Traditional SEO and slow-web directories take time. My initial Reddit attempts with a fresh account got instantly hammered by spam filters (hence why I’m sharing here where indie builders actually hang out).

Just shipped an update: I recently added a "random oracle / random signed dialogue" feature to the homepage to help new visitors instantly unearth old, forgotten gems buried deep in the database, breaking away from purely chronological feeds.
