I'm Lee. Solo founder, British expat based in Southeast Asia.
A few months ago I got frustrated trying to find expired domains with real SEO value. Every tool I tried was either expensive, clunky or just gave you a list of junk.
So I built my own.
The Domain Hunter lets you type in any niche keyword and surfaces expired domains that have aged authority, existing backlinks and real history — all AI-scored and ranked by opportunity.
I built it completely solo. No co-founder, no funding, no team. Just me, an API key and a lot of late nights.
It's live right now at thedomainhunter.io with a free tier — 3 hunts, no card needed.
I'm launching on Product Hunt on April 8th and would love the support of this community — whether that's feedback, a look at the tool or an upvote on launch day.
Happy to answer any questions about the build, the tech stack or the journey so far.
Cleaning up the "junk" in the expired domain market is a massive value-add, Lee. Most tools just dump thousands of worthless URLs on you, so having an AI-scored filter that actually ranks aged authority and backlink history is a serious shortcut for anyone building an SEO moat.
I’m currently running a project (Tokyo Lore) that focuses on skill-based competition for business ideas just like The Domain Hunter. Since you're already in the high-stakes phase of a Product Hunt launch, entering your project here could be a great way to build extra authority and get high-quality feedback from other builders.
Thanks again, but it says the entry idea has to relate to Tokyo and Im not sure The Domain Hunter does in any way.
Thanks for the honest feedback TheDomainHunter!
You're right — the rule is Tokyo-connected. But “Tokyo-connected” is broad: for example, a tool that helps domain hunters find high-value expired domains specifically for the Japanese market, Tokyo real-estate investors, or expat founders building in Japan would fit perfectly.
Many participants frame their global tools this way and it works great.
Would you like to submit an idea along those lines? $19 entry gets you the custom AI artifact + full SPEAR analysis + entry into the round. Prize pool has started building, so your odds are excellent right now while it’s still very early.
Happy to send you the direct $19 link and walk you through the whole process (takes under 2 minutes).
What do you think?
Nice niche to go after. One thing that gets missed with expired domains is hidden baggage, spam history, toxic backlinks, trademark risk, old manual penalties, and buyers care about that more than the AI angle. If your launch page makes those checks very obvious, Product Hunt traffic will get the value much faster.
Really valuable feedback, genuinely appreciate it. Spam history and toxic backlink flags are already part of the scoring — we surface those as red flags so buyers know what they're getting into. Congrats on the solo build, Lee. The AI-scored ranking by opportunity is a smart approach — most expired domain tools just dump a raw list and expect you to evaluate everything manually.
I'm also a solo founder launching on Product Hunt April 14th (NexClip AI — Topic-Based Video Editor). Know the "no co-founder, no funding, just late nights" feeling well.
Thanks so much! That was exactly the problem I wanted to solve — stop dumping raw lists on people. We're live on Product Hunt today if you fancy an upvote 👉 https://www.producthunt.com/posts/the-domain-hunter
Done! Just upvoted. NexClip AI is live today too — would appreciate the support back 🙏

Great product! Are you planning to add WHOIS history info for the domains? That would be very helpful.
Great suggestion! WHOIS history is on the roadmap — really useful for spotting domain drops and ownership patterns. We're live on Product Hunt today if you want to check it out 👉 https://www.producthunt.com/posts/the-domain-hunter
