I’m Clarry, a solo founder from Nigeria 🇳🇬

I recently launched DocPilot, an AI workspace designed to help job seekers create resumes that actually get through modern hiring systems.

The problem I was trying to solve:

Most people spend hours applying for jobs but never hear back.

The frustrating part is that many don’t realize their resume might never reach a recruiter. Before a human sees an application, it often goes through an ATS (Applicant Tracking System) that filters resumes based on keywords, structure, and formatting.

A great candidate can get rejected simply because their resume wasn’t optimized for the system.

I wanted to build something that helps fix that.

What I built

DocPilot currently helps job seekers:

Upload a resume and get:

• ATS compatibility score

• Impact score

• Clarity/readability score

• LinkedIn summaries

• Editable professional content

Everything is saved in one workspace so users can return and improve their documents anytime.

Biggest challenges

PDF generation

Getting resumes to export perfectly was harder than expected. I initially used html2canvas, but production issues forced me to rebuild the templates using @react-pdf/renderer.

Lesson: sometimes the first approach is not the right one.

Distribution

Getting people to actually use it has been the real challenge. Building is only half the journey.

What I learned

🚀 Ship before everything is perfect. Real users reveal problems you can’t predict.

🚀 Distribution is harder than development.

You can build something useful and still struggle if nobody knows it exists.

🚀 Talk to users early. The biggest improvements will probably come from conversations, not more features.
