I built an AI that roasts your startup pitch in 15 seconds

The Problem I Couldn't Ignore

I'm a newbie founder, and I struggle to pitch my product.

Not "needs a little polish" struggle. I mean "friends nodding politely while their eyes glaze over" struggle.

The worst part? I KNOW my product. I just couldn't explain it in 60 seconds without rambling, using filler words, or watching people's attention drift away.

I tried the usual fixes:

- Mentors: Expensive and scheduling a call takes a week

- Friends: Too nice. "Yeah, sounds cool!" doesn't help me improve

- ChatGPT voice mode: Interesting, but no specifics and no proof it works

I needed something that would give me honest, structured feedback instantly, so I could practice 10 times in an hour, not once a week.

What I Built

PitchMode — a web app where you record a 60-second pitch and get feedback in ~15 seconds.

The interesting part: I'm training it on real pitch feedback from actual investors and mentors (still WIP).

Here's what it does:

The Pivot That Got Me Here

Honestly, PitchMode almost didn't exist.

I originally built a role-play training platform — AI conversations to simulate tough talks and develop soft skills. Asking for a raise, negotiations, sales calls... everything.

Classic first-time founder mistake: I tried to solve everyone's problem.

Turns out "everyone" isn't a customer. The product went nowhere.

So I asked myself: what problem do I ACTUALLY have, right now, that I'd pay to solve?

The answer was painfully obvious. I was about to start fundraising and I couldn't pitch my own startup without stumbling.

PitchMode is me solving my own problem. And I'm betting other founders have it too.

What I Learned Building This

1. 60 seconds is a brutal constraint — and that's the point. If you can't hook someone in a minute, a 5-minute pitch won't save you.

2. Vertical products are much easier to build than "the one for everyone."

3. Speed matters — interface, design, functionality. All done in 2 days. Now I'm focused on making feedback even faster.
