Most people receive a medical bill… and still have no idea what they actually owe.
I kept hearing the same frustration from friends, family, and even people working inside healthcare:
“I got this medical bill, but I have no idea what I’m paying for.”
So I decided to build something small to fix that.
💡 What I built
I launched a simple web tool called DecodeMyForm AI.
You upload a medical bill or EOB, and it explains everything in plain English — no jargon, no codes, no guessing.
Yesterday, I published a full walkthrough video showing exactly how it works:
▶️ Video demo: https://youtu.be/UStZDN2btN4
🛠️ What’s inside the walkthrough
Magic-link login (no passwords)
OCR → AI summarization workflow
“Before → After” transformation of a confusing EOB
How it shows what the provider charged vs. what insurance paid
Clean explanation of what the patient actually owes
The goal wasn’t to create a big SaaS product — just a small tool that solves a painful problem millions of people face.
🚀 Why this problem matters
Healthcare billing is ridiculously confusing:
CPT/HCPCS codes
Adjustments and contractual write-offs
Deductibles, copays, out-of-pocket
The ambiguous “You may owe” section
Even smart people get lost.
Even billers and coders say it's a mess.
This felt like a good place to apply AI in a way that actually helps people.
🧪 What I’m trying now
I’d love feedback from the IH community on two things:
1️⃣ Does this feel like a real pain point or just an interesting idea?
Be brutally honest.
2️⃣ How would you validate demand here without being spammy?
(IH hates link-drop marketing, so I’m being careful.)
If you want to try the tool (demo mode, no signup), I’m happy to share privately.
📈 Goals for the next week
Collect 20 honest user reactions
Identify 1–2 real use cases beyond “curiosity”
Improve onboarding flow
Decide whether this becomes a full SaaS or stays a micro-tool
🙏 Would love your thoughts
If you've ever been confused by a medical bill — or built something similar — what do you think is the true root problem?
Is this worth pursuing further?
