Hey IH,
Most AI image tools are built to generate one nice-looking image.
That wasn't the problem I kept seeing from marketplace sellers.
If you sell on Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, or eBay, you usually don't need one pretty image. You need the full image pack: a compliant main image, lifestyle shots, detail crops, infographics, size callouts, and sometimes A+ content, all in the right dimensions for the platform you're selling on.
So we built Shelfgen.
With Shelfgen, you upload one product photo, choose a target platform, and get a full listing-ready image set in about 60 seconds.
A few things we focused on from day one:
- platform-specific specs baked in
- Amazon-compliant white background images
- A+ content modules sized correctly
- bulk generation for multiple SKUs
- preserving labels, logos, and product details instead of warping them
What makes this interesting to me is that it's less of a “creative AI” tool and more of a workflow tool for sellers.
Marketplace sellers don't just want a better-looking image. They want to launch faster, spend less on photography, avoid resizing everything manually, and stop getting blocked by marketplace requirements.
We're currently supporting major commerce use cases across Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, eBay, and more. On our side, the biggest insight so far is that sellers care a lot more about speed, consistency, and compliance than novelty.
I'd love feedback from other founders, sellers, or anyone building in ecommerce:
1. What is the most painful part of creating product images today?
2. If you sell across marketplaces, which platform is the biggest headache?
3. Would tighter workflow integrations matter more to you than more creative control?
If you're curious, the product is here:
Happy to share more about what we've learned building for marketplace sellers instead of for generic image generation use cases
This nails the real pain. The "one pretty image" tools all miss that a marketplace listing is a pack with strict per-platform specs, not a hero shot.
Curious how you handle Amazon A+ content modules versus Shopify product galleries since the layout conventions diverge so much. Do you keep a single source-of-truth pack that adapts, or distinct pipelines per platform?
This is an image-generating AI that's very suitable for platforms like Amazon; I really like it.
