Hey all, I recently built an app in my spare time because I was tired of feeling guilted into hitting a preselected 20% tip in ridiculous situations like pickup/drive thru orders. I know it's a frustrations a lot of Americans have been expressing in the past few years so decided to see if I could make an app to fight the practice without feeling stingy or guilty by tracking denied tip-solicitations in absurd circumstances and letting the user donate the sum to charity.
The app is called TippingPoint and currently available for android and iOS.
This app wasn't built to get in the way of anyone livelihoods. There's actually a mandatory screen in the intro where the user must agree not to use the app to stiff traditionally tipped professions. It's purely to keep tipping requests from encroaching more and more and hopefully help people in severe poverty all over the world.
Android + iOS (Kotlin Multiplatform + native respectively)
Your thoughts on tipping culture in general. Has it gotten out of hand in the past few years?
