I built an automation system because selling digital products became a workflow nightmare

Selling a digital product sounds simple.

Create something.
Upload it.
Add a payment link.

Done.

At least that's what I thought.

After building digital products,I realized the different part wasn't creating the product.

The difficult part was everything that happens after someone clicks "buy"

Things like:

-delivering the product automatically
-tracking orders
-organizing customer information
-sending updates
-following up with users

Slowly,a simple digital product business started becoming a small operations system.

At first,I connected different tools together:

Payhip for payments

Make for automation

Telegram for communication

Notion for tracking

The workflow became:

Customer purchase
→ Payhip payment event
→ Webhook trigger
→ Make automation
→ Telegram notification
→ Notion database update

The idea was simple:

When someone buys a product, the system should handle the repetitive work automatically.

But building this wasn't as easy as connecting a few tools.

The hardest parts were:

  • keeping data consistent between platforms
  • handling webhook failures
  • making sure every customer action was recorded correctly

After many iterations, this workflow became the foundation of NomadOS — a lightweight Digital Product OS built for solo creators.

The goal is not to add more tools.

The goal is to make existing tools work together as one system.

I'm still improving this workflow and learning from real usage.

For other indie hackers:

What part of your business still requires too much manual today?

Customer support?
Marketing?
Operations?
Product delivery?
