I Built an "Indie" Stock Trading Community (with a twist?)

Hello Hackers👋

Not sure how many of you are into investing, but over the past year I've felt the desperate need for a community for "indie stock traders" looking to talk investments plans and ideas.

There are definitely places out there to have discussion related to stocks but none of them have the warm and cozy feeling of community that you'd want to hang out with.

So, to scratch an itch of mine I sought out to build a home for such a community. Such a home, in my mind should have a few basic structures - a way to write, a way to share ideas and a way to track progress. After a couple weeks of tossing and turning on my computer I came up with what can be described as my interpretation of a modern stock trading community.

The community has a discussion board to talk and debate. I've given each user the ability to create a manage a stock portfolio to share ideas, and users can monitor and view a whole other repository of portfolios belonging to people in the community.

Now I'm by no means a product guru, but I can appreciate good design and respect and admire websites that are build around thoughtful user experience'. As such I've tried my level best to build the community with careful design decisions encouraging people to explore and engage.

With that, I thank you for reading if you made all the way down here and if you so feel inclined check out my very first portfolio on Down To Trade 😆.
