Hello IH,
A few weeks ago I read about testimonial.to success (automating testimonials display and acquisition on your landing page) and I wondered if some other part of a classic landing page could be improved/automated.
So I came up with this idea :
The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section of a landing page is usually key to customer conversion. But on most landings, it's static and not updated frequently. Sometimes the Q&A are even outdated and the visitor has no easy way to ask a question that would not have been answered yet. 🤔
I spent some time building a MVP, I called it faqq.io.
Target customers would be non-coding website owners mainly, probably already making a profit from it and wanting to increase their conversion rate. It could also be useful to coders as a way to save time from building their own Q&A section.
I don't feel like right now it brings enough value to make people pay for it though. Am I missing a killer feature ? Do you think it could have potential ?
I'd love some feedback about it. Thanks IH 🙏
Very simple and intuitive!
I like it, you might want to work more on different designs that will be compatible with different themes.
Also, a good feature would be to add an open rate of each question, that way your customers will know more about his pain points.
Thanks for this insight. I also have the feeling that detailed statistics are important for a FAQ section and no competitor provide it apparently.
I love the idea of a micro-niche for a website. I don't know that it's valuable enough for people to pay for, but prove me wrong. This likely needs a Wordpress/Webflow/etc. plugin, but I'd wager there are myriad of these?
Also, the see it in use is great. However, your site is missing Schema markup for FAQs and for each one --- that's a big opportunity to help sites rank for common FAQs their customers have, and pretty easy to bake on. I'd highly suggest adding it.
I wish I could upvote this more - as a marketer adding the SCHEMA is huge and guess what - loads of people dont know how to do it. It's just NOW getting even bigger with Google, I just read an article about it today. So killer features.... Schema, and explain how that gets people SERP real estate and more visitors and maybe make it somehow interactive, lets say its in an accordion style presentation, why not offer auto-re-ordering based on which questions are popped open the most, offer stats on that to guide people's choices of questions. What about letting people offer feedback on an answer thats just a simple one-liner form post that you collect - you could add a "what question am I missing" single-line form to it - make it sing and dance somehow, make it smarter, make it re-order itself, make it interactive, let people rate the answers on a star scale. SO its like how is my question order, how good are my answers, what am I missing and the easter-egg is that you get schema - maybe this is a plugin for Wordpress along with a separate website that is just dead simple or it all works inside of Wordpress.
Okay schema structured data goes on the MVP features list 👌
Thanks for this suggestion
100% Agree, and seeing as you're already addressing two high value SEO optimizations: Schema, FAQ keyword content, you could consider creating other SEO micro-tools for some big pain points that always need addressing and I would love to do with CTO:
I like the idea. The website looks sleek .People from this community might not be your targeted customer. I see potential customers who run Shopify/Woocommerce, but typically they should already have Q and A available with their templates, I think it would be helpful to get some insights from them.
Solid idea!
I'd use it for some of my websites, mainly because of the question voting and the ability to add a new question.
Styling is essential for me, so the ability to pick the accent color is nice. It would be nice for it to have dark mode, with customizable colors for background, text, borders, and buttons. The ability to set the font-family would be nice as well. Or have it inherited from the website.
Just to offer you some feedback for pricing expectations: I'd love to have a free plan with a limited number of questions (2-3) to try it out. For one website I'd be happy to pay $2.99/month, for up to 5, $9.99.
I'd also love to have it integrated into builders like Framer or as a React npm package.
Interesting pricing structure. I also consider using a structure based on the number of views (as do elfsight.com and commoninja.com). Faqqio clearly lacks customization you're right! I'm working on it.
It's good already, I might be an edge case because I'm looking for that customization.
Pricing based on views might be good, just consider that if you're going to offer a free tier many early adopters will probably fall under it. IMO a combo of views/limitations(number of questions, customization, extra features) would make it easier to monetize faster.
But definitely push it forward, it's a good idea. Good luck!
really cool and simple idea but quite effective!
it would be great if you could add more details on pricing or how this plugs into a bigger ecosystem of user help tools
great site design , only thing i would improve is that i would use a higher res picture for the "app screenshot" which looks kinda blurry
cheers
Make sure your demo links to a new _blank page... you dont want to lose your customer.
Love the idea. And indeed, as mentioned by other contributors, FAQ Schema is key for the MVP release.
Nice idea! If it’ll link to some support bot or analytics tool and it’ll understand by itself the part that people keep asking it can also help the ux team
Really the idea Juelien, super easy to setup everything with a few clicks. Would be nice to allow multiple widgets per site, aka general, pricing, security/privacy.
Not to be picky but I would suggest having a transparent background for your favicon logo.
Cute website,
it wasn't clear to me that the form, in the beginning, is actually the demo and i was looking for it for a bit.
Also, your favicon has white background around the purple.
I think it's not interesting enough for someone to pay for it, maybe if you make the FAQ interactive, in a way that I can press CTRL + K and then open modal for search, like spotlight search in MacBook.
Anyways I suggest that you try to sell it to people and see if there is traction before investing more effort :)
Looks very good, you gave an overall of everything in just a few clicks, very good landing page. The only detail is, that I would update the page's title. Other than that, I'm going to actually use yours as inspiration for mine!
I checked out the website and I would say this is a really great project and I am sure people would love it .
In Fact, I have shared it to few of my friends and they like it.
I just started my career in development and interviewing for my first job.
I might not have more feedback because I am lacking real world experience but I appreciate efforts you have put on this site.
good luck
🙏 This nice message really helps keeping up the motivation
@harijoe - guess what? This was exactly the project I considered starting several weeks ago; but didn't work on it because of the doubts you raised. I think you can still find buyers for this. The market seems to be super large. I'd like to connect with you over email.
Sure, DM me on twitter 👌
I am @thebigk on Twitter. Followed you. DM not open, it seems.
Yea this is great idea, especially for the market you're reaching out to, there are so many heavy weight help desk solutions out there, and sometimes you just want a quick an easy way to put up FAQs for your customers, Product ideas would be neat feature as well especially for early stage looking for tonnes of customer feedback
Do you mean like a product feature suggestion box ? I guess it falls outside of the scope of a faq though!
I'm your target customer. But to be frank, I wouldn't use this. Even for free. A FAQ section is just too simple to build to bother integrating a third-party product. From scratch, I don't think it would take me more than 45 minutes. There's just not enough pain there for me.
Also, the FAQ format is just too limiting. It's okay for quick answers to common questions. But when I need to write answers to complex questions, I need a lot more space, i.e. an actual help center. And I already have Intercom for that.
Hope that helps though. Best of luck!
I'd love to ask you some questions. I couldn't DM you on twitter but if you're open for a little discussion, please feel free to DM me 🙏
Love the idea Julien.
For my project, I added a couple of FAQs using a template from Webflow and then created a public Notion with the rest of the questions.
Something that would have benefited me as a potential user would be its simplicity of it. I know it's part of your "benefits" section but this would be your USP from my side.
With all the consequences—how would I add it? (simple script) etc
ps. The incorporated voting is a nice touch. 👏
Thanks a lot for the feedback! Glad you like the idea.
I am curious about your experience using a webflow faq template, wasn't it simple to install it ? Was there anything left to desire from their solution ?
Was pretty simple tbh. I’m more on a semi advanced level on Webflow though.
I like your product! The only question I have is in case I can put 10+ questions into FAQ, how would I know people found an answer to theirs (if they could only like/dislike existing ones). I think it will be cool to add one more section to it called "Didn't find your question? Type it here ...." I believe this will be great.
I assume this post brought <5 signups (been there), can help you find your first 20 customers via 1-1 chats. Just drop me a DM on Twitter :)
Hey Julien 👋
I’ve been on this path as well, but as many projects prior, it was a product that didn’t poke its head out into the real world, so I can’t tell you if it’s a valid proposition or how the story may end.. TBH I kinda got bored with the idea and ended up getting a job instead of pursuing it 🙄
One thing that lead me down that particular rabbit hole was building a habit of asking myself (and writing) a zillion questions about any product I work on, everything from security (often asked by business customers in high touch sales) to system architecture and hosting, to more common end user/customer type questions as well as questions random people might ask. This is a really powerful exercise IMO and one that is obviously not that common. It forces you to consider many aspects of the offer not just FAQs or customer perspective questions.
However, with all of that rambling out of the way, I do think there is a killer feature which it doesn’t look like you’re supporting, yet.
It was the Crown Jewels in my offer.
Rather than tell you, I’ll get you to ask yourself lots of questions about who and what might be interested in an FAQpage 🙂
Good luck!
🍻
Thank you for this testimonial, it helps! I will plan the next dev cycle with a lot more in mind. I'd love to hear that killer feature though, gathering ideas and feedbacks really help me designing the target product.
I tried to give you a few hints above 🙂
Basically, you’d want to consider supporting long form, rich content answers and support the FAQ and FAQPage
(https://schema.org/FAQPage) schemas automatically so google indexes and can display them as questions and answers.
