So I just built an Upvote board application inspired by 50hacks.co
The link is https://board.linksight.app/ so you can try it out.
Here are my ideas on how to make SAAS from it:
- Employee feedback board - a place where bigger companies can hear their employees and their problems (https://nolt.io/ for employees and companies)
- Freeboard creator app for anybody because I believe people want to make their upvote boards and I didn't find any competition here. But the problem here is I am not sure if I can make money from this?
- Developer's confessions story - Board where developers can anonymously confess their working sins so we can all have laughs together
I Am really interested in your feedback on which direction I should move forward.
If you are interested I am open to partnerships as well.
You know what also would be cool for us Indie Hackers?
A board like this where I post all of my product ideas, and everyone else votes to help me figure out which one to start after my current product fails! :D
It already exits and it's called Kernal. Go check it out! There are some great ideas and discussions there.
I only have 1 invite left out of the 3 I initially had for Kernal. I can send the last one to @DorianG (if he finds out how to open his DMs on Twitter 🥲). I'm sorry if you commented to request one!
haha. so nice. had this idea yesterday in the shower. indiehackers never cease to amaze me! Would love an invite as well!
OK, wanna send me an invite code? :D
Sure, I tried to DM you an invite link on Twitter (via your personal profile) but it seems like you have not opened your DMs yet!
PS: Going to sleep. I'll check back in a couple hours :)
Thanks! Try my personal Twitter account: @WhidbeyHacker
Still can't DM you. You need to allow it in your settings:
More > Settings and privacy > Privacy and safety > Direct Messages > Allow messages request from everyone
Ok, set and ready to receive DMs from random strangers!
Would love an invite too!!
On the other hand not sure if every user should have its own board or if there would be one board for all users.
I guess it depends on how big is your audience.
Maybe there should be both combined and you choose if you want to go to the public board ?
Uuuuu this is a really good idea, do you think SAAS would be overkill there? For example 1board is free, if you want more you subscribe for something cheap?
It would be cool to have my own public board for my IH friends & anyone else to help me sort my ideas, but honestly, I think I'd only use it once and I wouldn't pay for it. Not sure what to do about monetization.
@DorianG I built an MVP and I will continue to develop it if there will be interest: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/solution-to-your-biggest-problem-in-choosing-which-idea-you-should-build-512d38bd68
Honestly, I don't have to monetize it, I can do this just to give something to the community.
What is your product monetization strategies?
I just have this thought to build something similar but you have already done it. The worlds spinning faster than I thought lol. Congrats mate, would love to see what you will do with this!
I published https://confessme.dev/ and now working on boards for validating your ideas in public
Really interesting. I've seen upvote boards work well for featured but they seem to be under-explored for other potential use-cases (like employee suggestions for HR in bigger companies, etc.)
Yeah that's my thoughts as well, but currently, I am working on this tool as an idea validator for indie hackers, hopefully, people will use it
This can be a great tool to get feedbacks on new/upcoming features. Are you thinking of adding a kanban view?
That market is too crowded :(
Cool, keep it up!
There seems to be some redirection issue. I am not able to open it. Even with curl, I keep getting 301 and the location is always "https://board.linksight.app/".
I had CF issue it should be resolved now.
