Hey Indie Hackers 👋
I recently launched Appcan.io, a platform that helps developers scan their iOS and Android apps for security issues—no setup, no SDK, just upload and go.
I know how a dev frustrated by how slow, enterprise-focused, and expensive most mobile security tools are. I just wanted something that would check my app for common vulnerabilities and misconfigurations before release—and tell me clearly what needs fixing.
So I built Appcan to solve that.
Upload your .apk or .ipa file
Get a detailed, easy-to-understand security report
Fix issues before they become user complaints or headlines
It’s ideal for indie developers, small teams, or anyone who doesn’t have a full-time security team but still wants to ship safe, trustworthy apps.
I’d love your feedback, suggestions.
Big congrats on shipping Appcan
Love that you’re tackling a real pain point for indie devs and security is so often overlooked until it’s too late. I had a quick look at your site and the tool feels super promising. One thing I’d be curious about: have you considered leaning more heavily into the 'no setup, no SDK' angle in your main messaging? That’s a huge differentiator that could grab attention fast, especially for non-security-savvy devs.
Happy to share more thoughts if helpful...cheering you on!
Really appreciate your feedback. Yeah, that would be helpful to call out this simplification.
One quick suggestion that could help clarify your value prop instantly:
Consider changing your homepage hero to something like...
“Scan your mobile app for security issues; no setup, no SDK, just upload and go.”
(Then follow with a subheadline like:)
“Appcan gives you a clear, actionable security report for your iOS and Android apps in minutes.”
That ‘no setup’ line is gold. It reduces friction in the user’s mind, especially for indie devs who are juggling 10 things already. Make it the headline, not the fine print.
That makes sense, thank you very much
You got it. One more thing that could help: pair that headline with a single sentence or visual that answers ‘Why should I trust this?’ right away. Maybe a short testimonial or even a 3-bullet ‘What you’ll get’ list right under the CTA. That combo |clear value + quick trust| is often what gets the first click.
Thank you. I've adjusted the content according to your suggestion, now I think it's more user-centred :)
