I built Ask Linc after pasting my entire financial life into ChatGPT 🫣

Yes, including bank statements. Yes, including screenshots of my accounts. No, I don't recommend it.

After getting laid off a few months ago, I was trying to figure out how long we could go without my income, whether our CDs were earning enough, and how a potential layoff might impact our retirement plan. Naturally, I turned to ChatGPT — but it had no idea what my actual financial situation was. No account balances. No live rates. No context.

So I ended up doing what a lot of folks probably have:
📄 downloaded statements
📊 filled out spreadsheets
🧷 pasted screenshots into a giant prompt
🤷‍♂️ hoped no one was watching

The answers were fine — but it took hours, and honestly, it felt sketchy.

So I built Ask Linc — a privacy-first AI financial assistant.

It connects to your real accounts (via Plaid), pulls in live market data, and gives you smart answers to actual financial questions — like:

“Should we refinance our mortgage right now?”
“How long could we cover expenses if one of us lost income?”
“Are we just sitting on cash when we could be earning more?”

Everything is encrypted and anonymized before hitting GPT. We don’t store sensitive info, and your data is never used for training.

🎯 We’re in private beta and starting to bring early users in.
If this resonates — or you’ve ever tried to make ChatGPT your financial advisor — I’d love your feedback.

Happy to share more on how I’m building it, the tech stack, or lessons learned along the way.
