I built Deep Research for keywords in 4 days because I wanted to scale up startup validation

Last week I was using Rob Walling's 5PM framework to validate startup ideas. For each idea, you need to check if people are actually searching for the problem or solution.

The keyword research was taking way too long. For each idea, I'd spend hours:

  • Brainstorming variations of how people might search
  • Checking volumes one by one
  • Finding related keywords
  • Organizing everything into problem vs solution searches
  • Rinse and repeat for the next idea

I couldn't scale it. I had a list of 20+ ideas to validate and at 3-4 hours per idea, that's a full work week just on keyword research.

So I built an AI agent to do it for me.

I used Relevance AI to connect ChatGPT's o3 reasoning model (the one that powers deep research) with DataForSEO's API for real keyword data. The first test was incredible – what took me 3 hours now took 2 minutes.

Then I dogfooded it and discovered people search a lot for keyword research tools.

4 days later (40 hours), Jello SEO was born.

Here's what it does:

  • You describe your business or idea in plain English
  • The AI thinks like an SEO expert and generates tons of keyword variations
  • Pulls real Google search volumes for everything simultaneously
  • Categorizes by intent (problem searches vs solution searches)
  • Gives you an actionable report with quick wins

It's essentially ChatGPT's deep research feature but specifically for keywords. The o3 model is incredible at understanding context and exploring angles you'd never think to search.

Technical bits for the curious:

  • OpenAI o3 for the reasoning (it explores keyword angles like a senior SEO consultant)
  • DataForSEO for accurate, real-time search volumes
  • Simple chat interface – no dashboards to learn
  • Priced at $9-49/month (vs $99-999 for traditional tools)

I'm not claiming this replaces Ahrefs for power users. But if you've ever opened Ahrefs and immediately closed it feeling overwhelmed, or if you just need to quickly validate whether people search for your idea – this might be for you.

Would love feedback on:

  • The onboarding flow – is it clear what to do?
  • Pricing – too high/low for indie hackers?
  • What other use cases would you want beyond idea validation?

I also made some live demos:

Happy to answer any questions.
