I Built Free Tools Because Founders Are Getting Burned by Vibe-Coding and Cutting Corners

Hey Indie Hackers,

I have spent the last few years cleaning up vibe-coded MVPs and fixing backend surprises for funded teams - the kind of messes that cost $20K to $80K+ to untangle after launch.

The pattern is always the same:

  • Someone thinks AI can vibe-code production (it cannot - not without massive rework).
  • Someone hires "cheap devs" to save money (they usually cost 3 to 5 times more in fixes later).
  • Everyone assumes "more people = faster" (Brook’s Law says hi).
  • No one models real costs upfront - especially with Firebase 2026 changes hitting hard.

After seeing this play out too many times, I stopped waiting for founders to learn the hard way.

I built a Software Decision Toolbox - free calculators and frameworks that force realism before anyone writes (or vibes) a single line of code.

What is inside:

  • Kotlin + Firebase Cost Calculator (updated for 2026 Blaze surprises - Storage buckets, auth scaling, etc.)
  • SwiftUI + Firebase Cost Calculator (same logic, different stack)
  • Supabase Cost Reality Calculator
  • Vibe Code Loss Calculator (quantifies how much AI shortcuts actually cost in cleanup time & money)
  • MVP Boundary Scoping Tool (prevents scope creep from killing your runway)
  • Team Scaling Fallacy Calculator (Brook’s Law in numbers - adding people often slows you down)
  • And a few more backend/architecture reality checks (Heroku, AWS, over-abstraction detector)

These are not fancy no-code landing pages. They are simple, honest tools I wish existed when I was fixing other people’s messes.

So far they have driven 12K+ organic search impressions in the last 3 months (mostly from people googling “Firebase pricing 2026” and “vibe code cost”).

If you are building right now:

  • Have you ever had a vibe-coded prototype blow up in production?
  • Or hired “cheap” help that ended up costing way more?
  • What is the one decision tool you wish you had before your last project?

Drop your thoughts below - no fluff, just real talk.
