Hi everyone, I'm new to Indie Hackers and wanted to introduce myself and a small project I’ve been building.
I’m a UI designer based in East Asia, and recently I’ve been trying to build some tools on my own — not just design them. One of the projects I recently launched is halotool.com, a directory of AI tools with filters by category, pricing, and language.
The idea came from my own frustration: AI tools are popping up like crazy, but most collections are unstructured, outdated, or don’t support non-English users. I wanted something simple, searchable, and useful.
Here’s what halotool does:
Collects and categorizes 1000+ AI tools (writing, image, voice, video, productivity, etc.)
Supports multi-language filtering (English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
Shows basic tool info (pricing, login requirements, use cases, platform)
Includes real traffic data per tool (page visits, bounce rate, top countries)
Fully mobile-friendly and fast-loading
It started as a personal side project to save time, but I found others facing the same problems, so I kept improving it and made it public.
Still a solo project, still evolving.
Would love any feedback or thoughts from you all 🙏
Thanks for having me!
