After months of development, I finally launched InvoicesNest.
The idea came from a simple frustration: most invoicing tools felt either too expensive, too complicated, or overloaded with features that many freelancers and small businesses never use.
So I built InvoicesNest — a modern invoicing platform focused on simplicity and speed.
Current features include:
• Professional invoice generation
• Client management
• 150+ currency support
• Business profile auto-fill
• Revenue tracking dashboard
• PDF invoice exports
I'd love to hear honest feedback from the Indie Hackers community.
What is the one feature you think every invoicing platform should have?
The one feature I’d care about most is not another invoice field. It is payment-follow-up.
Most freelancers do not struggle only with creating invoices. They struggle with getting paid without awkward back-and-forth.
So the strongest feature might be simple automated reminders:
invoice sent
viewed or not viewed
due soon
overdue
paid
That shifts InvoicesNest from “make invoices quickly” to “send professional invoices and get paid faster.”
The product already sounds simple, which is good. I’d just be careful not to compete as another invoicing tool with more features. The sharper angle is helping freelancers look professional and reduce payment friction.
Happy to put a tighter version in writing if useful. I’d map the positioning, first freelancer segment, outreach angle, and a simple 7-day plan to get first users testing it.
Hey! Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve implemented it — auto reminders are now live. Would love your feedback if you test it!
Interesting.
The reason I'd be careful is that implementing the feature and knowing what it means for the business are often two different things.
That's not something I'd try to work through properly in a thread.
If you'd like the tighter version, drop your email and I'll put it together properly.
