Hey Indie Hackers! ๐
I wanted to share a Chrome extension I built called Retraceโa tool designed to make bookmarking and rediscovering text and media content on the web much easier.
Traditional bookmarks suck. You save a page but forget why you saved it. Highlights get lost. Scrolling back to the exact content you wanted to revisit is frustrating. You found a particularly interesting part of a YouTube video but have no idea where in the video it was.
My wife kept running into this problem when researching ideas, collecting inspiration, or trying to find snippets from long articles for inspiration working on a writing project. So, I built Retrace to make saving, organizing, and returning to content effortless.
๐น Save bookmarks with context โ Select text, images, YouTube video timestamps, or key snippets from any webpage and save them with a single click.
๐น Revisit the exact location โ Unlike traditional bookmarks, Retrace scrolls you back to the exact spot where you saved your content or brings you back to the exact timestamp of your YouTube video where it was saved.
๐น Organize effortlessly โ Assign categories, favorite, and archive your saved snippets to keep track of research, ideas, and must-reads.
๐น Minimal UI, Maximum Functionality โ A lightweight extension that works seamlessly without clutter.
The extension has a mix of free features and Premium versions with advanced functionality. I'm currently exploring ways to scale, gather feedback, and refine the product based on real-world usage.
Iโd love to hear your thoughts:
๐ Have you ever struggled with bookmarking & revisiting saved content?
๐ What features would make this even more useful for you?
๐ Any tips for growing a Chrome extension as an indie dev?
Would appreciate any feedback or ideas! ๐
