I built Sonant, a native music controller for Mac. It's launched!

Hi everyone,

For the last few months, I've been working on a little macOS app to solve a problem that always bugged me: having to constantly switch back to the Music or Spotify app just to see what's playing or skip a track. I wanted something more seamless, something that felt truly native to the Mac.

It's called Sonant.

Sonant is a glass-like music controller that lives in your menu bar. It shows you the current track, artist, and album art from Apple Music or Spotify, and gives you playback controls right where you need them.

One of its key features is an optional, real-time audio visualizer. It's a 4-band visualizer tied directly to your Mac's audio output, so you can see your music in a subtle, beautiful way. It's off by default, but you can turn it on anytime.

I built Sonant to be simple, beautiful, and private. It doesn't collect personal data—just an anonymous ping for version checking, and it's a one-time purchase. No subscriptions.
