I built TextBases: free browser tools without signup

Hey Indie Hackers 👋

I’m building TextBases, a growing collection of free browser-based tools for text processing, writing, and developer workflows.

The idea came from repeatedly needing small utilities such as word counters, text cleaners, case converters, JSON formatters, encoders, password generators, and similar tools. Many existing options were scattered across different websites, overloaded with distractions, or required an account for a simple task.

TextBases brings these focused utilities together in one place. The core principles are straightforward:

• Free to use

• No signup required

• Works directly in the browser

• Dedicated page for each tool

• Fast on desktop and mobile

• Simple interfaces without unnecessary workflow complexity

The platform currently includes text measurement and cleaning tools, JSON, HTML, and XML formatters, encoding and decoding utilities, hashing tools, UUID and password generators, and more.

I’m currently focused on improving performance, usability, tool coverage, and organic discovery. TextBases is still a side project and has no revenue yet.

I’d appreciate honest feedback on:

1. Whether the positioning is clear

2. Which tools are genuinely useful

3. Whether the interface feels trustworthy and easy to use

4. What would make you return to the site

You can explore it here:

One thing I like about products like this is that success isn't usually about offering the most powerful tool.

It's about becoming the place people can rely on without having to think about it. For simple utilities, that kind of familiarity can end up being the biggest advantage.

Free dev tools is a strong wedge. Curious — which specific workflow are people coming back for most? That repeat use case usually defines where real monetisation unlocks.
