I built the tool I always wanted, and I love it. Such a satisfying feeling

I have been shipping features for leerly.io like mad, because we wanted to get the last couple core features in before we switch to focusing only on growth, rather than functionality. They are finally done to a point where using the app feels like how I imagined it would when I had the idea.

For context, leerly is an app for comprehensible Spanish input (reading and listening), and I shipped the ability to highlight words directly in the app for instant translations, then allowing the user to save the vocabulary for later.

I was reading and listening to one of our articles, and kept coming across a word I didn't know. My first thought was "ugh, I'm definitely missing context here, I should look this up", but didn't want to be taken out of reading mode, and then I remembered I had already shipped the ability to highlight text and translate it! I was able to translate the word in 1 second, right there in the app, and add it to my vocab list, all while I listened to the article still being read to me.

It was amazing!! It was the Spanish reading experience I had always wanted! It just feels very validating to know we are building our SaaS at least partially correct, because I am the exact target audience, and I really like it.

Here is a free leerly article if anyone is curious! The auto-translation is disabled for non-users, just because I pay for each translation.
