I kept trying different productivity apps, and instead of helping, they made me feel more overwhelmed.
Too many features, too much structure, and it always felt like I was behind on something.
So I started building something for myself — a calmer, more visual space to organize thoughts, goals, and everything going on in life without it feeling stressful.
It turned into something I now call Soulspace.
It’s still early, but I’d really love honest feedback from people who feel the same way about productivity tools.

It resonates with me a lot...
The simpler the app, the better. I prefer having more of them, but not overwhelming ones.
I'm just testing my new mobile app with the same idea (having less inside but dedicated to one purpose).
I created an account on your website and scanned through it. I might start using it next week. Just don't make it too noisy, please. You already have a couple of screens there... I like the focus flow page by far the most.
I really appreciate this , especially you actually creating an account and checking it out. That means a lot.
And I agree with you on keeping it simple. That’s something I’m trying to stay really intentional about because it’s easy to accidentally turn something calm into something overwhelming.
It’s good to hear the focus flow page stands out, that’s actually one of the core directions I want to lean into more.
I’ll keep the “less but better” mindset front and center while building this.
Hi Morgan!
The idea is good and solves a pain point, but the problem is your execution. The image at the landing page which displays an eye, doesn't seem to make a tranquil feeling. I feel that doesn't suit the vibe your trying to bring. And also at some parts the letters are not properly visible, and small - The background color is also a reason for this. I think a dark background like a night sky with stars and the letter/boards in white will be good.
I just updated a few things on the app. Go check it out and let me know what you think ☺️
I appreciate the honest feedback — especially calling out the disconnect between the idea and the execution. That’s something I’m actively working through right now.
The point about the visual not matching the feeling I’m trying to create is really helpful. I’ve been experimenting with different directions, and I think you’re right that the current one isn’t quite landing.
Also noted on the readability, that’s definitely something I need to fix.
I like your suggestion of a darker, more minimal background. I may explore something along those lines while keeping the overall feel calm and not too heavy.
Hi Morgan!
The problem you're describing is real — most productivity apps are built for people who already have their system together and just need to execute. They're not built for the mental state you're in when you actually need help.
I had a look at the landing page. The "calmer, more visual" positioning is the right instinct, but the page itself doesn't yet feel calm — it's quite text-heavy up top and the hierarchy makes me work a little to understand what Soulspace actually does in practice. A single screenshot or visual of the actual space would do more than any paragraph right now.
The origin story you told here in this post is better than anything on the landing page. That first paragraph — "instead of helping, they made me feel more overwhelmed" — is your headline.
This is honestly incredibly helpful, thank you.
You put into words exactly what I’ve been feeling but didn’t fully see yet, especially the part about the landing page not actually feeling calm even though that’s the intention.
And you’re completely right about the origin story. That line you pulled out is exactly what pushed me to build this in the first place, so I probably buried the most important thing.
I’m going to simplify the top section and focus more on showing the product visually instead of explaining it. This gave me a really clear direction.
Really glad it landed. The "doesn't feel calm" observation is the kind of thing that's hard to see when you're inside the product — you know what you meant, so you read it that way. Fresh eyes help.
Looking forward to seeing what the simplified version looks like.
You were right — I completely simplified it. I made the headline the main focus and added a visual so people can instantly see what it actually is instead of reading a wall of text.
It already feels way calmer and clearer. That feedback helped more than you know.
That's the best outcome — you saw it immediately once it was pointed out. The fact that it already feels calmer is the signal it was the right call. Good luck with it.
This is such a real observation. Most productivity apps optimize for task completion metrics, not for the actual outcome you care about - which is making progress on things that matter.
For solopreneurs specifically, the problem is compounded. Generic productivity tools weren't built for someone who is simultaneously a CEO, sales rep, client delivery lead, and finance manager. Tasks don't exist in isolation - they connect to clients, projects, revenue, and weekly goals.
That's why I'm building a Solopreneur Notion OS - a purpose-built system where your weekly review, projects, clients, and decisions are all linked. Not a task app, but an operating system. Would love to know what specifically was making you feel worse - task overload or something else?
Maybe change a few things:
This resonates. The apps that are supposed to help often add multiple layers of pressure that weren't there before.
I'm building something that comes at the same problem from a different angle. No boards, no goals, no visual space. Just one specific action, chosen by AI based on what you tell it you've been putting off. Nothing to organize, nothing to maintain. The idea is that the friction of starting is the problem, not the lack of structure.
Curious how Soulspace is going — the focus flow page sounds like the most interesting direction.
Curious if anyone else has felt this way about productivity apps or if it’s just me.
