🚀 I built Website Growth Tracker to spot fast-growing websites before they go mainstream

Hey Indie Hackers 👋

I’ve been building a side project called Website Growth Tracker. The idea came from my own frustration: tools like Similarweb or Semrush are great, but they usually only tell you about websites that are already big. I wanted something that shows what’s starting to grow right now.

So I built Website Growth Tracker. Every month, it highlights websites with the fastest traffic growth based on domain registration + traffic data. The goal: help founders, marketers, and investors discover emerging websites and digital trends earlier than others.

🔑 Features so far:

  • Monthly ranking of the fastest-growing websites

  • Domain-level traffic estimates & growth signals

  • Keyword difficulty and CPC insights

  • Free plan (10 queries/day), Pro plan for unlimited

💡 Why I made this

  • As a founder, I always wanted to know what niches were starting to explode before they became competitive.

  • I’ve been experimenting with data sources (domain registration + Similarweb API) to make this more accurate and affordable.

  • It started as a weekend hack, but I realized it could be useful for others too.

🚧 Challenges

  • Balancing API costs vs. keeping a free plan available.

  • Designing a UI that’s simple but still provides enough insight.

  • Marketing — figuring out how to get early adopters who actually care about growth data.

✅ Next steps

  • Add trend dashboards (category-specific, e.g. AI tools, SaaS, ecommerce).

  • Build alerts (e.g. email notification when a new site is growing fast).

  • Collect feedback from early users (that’s where you come in 🙌).

Would love to hear your thoughts:

  • If you track website trends, what’s missing here?

  • Would you pay for early-access to data on fast-growing sites?

  • Any ideas on features that could make it more valuable for founders?

Thanks for reading — happy to answer questions and share more about the tech stack or growth plan if anyone’s curious!

Really cool idea monojson! Most tools focus on the ‘already big’ websites, so spotting early growth is a real gap. I think trend dashboards + alerts could be game changers, especially for founders hunting niches,
