I built Zap Bill because invoicing as a freelancer was a pain

I’m a freelance developer, and honestly… invoicing always felt way harder than it should be.

Every time I finished work, I had to:

  • open some slow tool

  • fill in the same details again

  • generate a PDF

  • send it manually

  • then chase the payment later

It just felt like a chore. Not difficult, just… unnecessarily annoying.

I tried a bunch of invoicing tools, but most of them felt:

  • overcomplicated

  • built for accountants

  • or just slow when I wanted something quick

So I ended up building my own thing: Zap Bill.

Right now I’m focused on:

  • making invoice creation instant

  • adding simple tools like calculators/templates

  • reducing the need to “think” when billing

I’m not trying to build some massive accounting platform.
Just something that makes getting paid easier.

Curious:

  • how do you guys handle invoicing right now?

  • what’s the most annoying part for you?
