I burned out as a high-growth startup engineer. So I built a physical "anti-productivity" candy brand.

Hey Indie Hackers,

I used to be one of you. A startup engineer. Optimized code, optimized sleep, optimized life. I was "high performance." The company grew. My salary grew.

But my stress grew faster.

Then the AI Agent era arrived. I watched "productivity" scale to infinity while my own neural network crashed. Insomnia. Panic. My body simply stopped executing commands. The machine of "productivity" had finally broken me.

When I stepped away, I lost my job, my identity, and my sense of worth. But weirdly... it was kind of funny. Once the panic faded, I took naps. I made coffee slowly. I did absolutely nothing. And for the first time in years, I felt human.

I realized: Maybe the problem was never me. Maybe the world is the one that’s broken.

We don't need another SaaS wrapper. We don't need another AI tool to make us work faster. We need tools to help us stop.

So I made a decision. Instead of writing more code, I decided to build a "Human Sustainability Tool" disguised as a D2C product.

It’s called Booby. It’s Chewing Candy. Yes, physical, sugary, unoptimized candy.

It is not "performance food." It is not a "productivity tool." It is a survival kit for the AI era. A physical patch to help you disconnect, chew, and laugh at the absurdity of modern capitalism.

I just secured my first funding (debt) to manufacture the "F*cking Chewing Candy" box. My plan is to send these to burnt-out startups as a "maintenance kit" for their humans.

Am I crazy for pivoting from SaaS to Snacks in 2025? I’d love to hear your thoughts on "Human Sustainability" in the age of AI.

Congratulations on your launch. It looks impressive! What channels are you exploring to attract early users?

This is a brilliant pivot and honestly the kind of story that performs extremely well on Reddit because it taps into something real people are feeling right now. The “anti-productivity” angle and physical candy concept hit a perfect cultural nerve.

If you ever want help positioning this on Reddit to spark organic conversations and real engagement, feel free to reach out I can walk you through exactly how to launch it across the right subreddits for maximum traction.

that's cool, your idea is kind of helpful for a lot of startups that are struggling and I believe a lot of founders need you stuff do you want to share this to others? It might help them work better and release their stress

Thanks, Samantha! The answer is 100% YES.

I built this because I lived that stress. I mentally crashed while leading non-stop release sprints for my engineering team right before our Series B round. The pressure was insane.

I know so many founders and employees are running on fumes right now. I want Booby to be a physical "pause button" for them.
