I challenged myself to build a CAD file comparison webapp in 24 hours. Constrains fuel motivation. Thoughts on the process!

I am incredibly excited to show you the tool I developed & always wanted as an Architect. CadCheck.xyz allows for quick comparison of your documentation, quickly and hassle-free.

I am also thrilled to join the open development movement, and show other like-minded architects, CAD and ThreeJS enthusiasts, and AEC members the progress.

Current version heavily focuses on the main pain-point: Without opening expensive #CAD software you can drag and drop files, overlay them and compare them quickly. You can also add multiple files as a project folder:

I am big fan of the Indiehacker movement, but struggled to ship things.

This time, I have bigger ambitions, so to keep up with motivation in the beginnning, I have optimized it by introducing constrains.

Services and Tools like react-three-fiber (by super helpful @0xca0a) based on threejs and Divjoy were this time gamechangers: they allow to keep the most precious thing while working on a side-project: time → motivation.

DivJoy is a fantastic time saver: although I welcome the nocode movement, many tools seems either too constrained or not easy enough for a developer. DivJoy takes care of 90% of the burden I face on my side projects: setting up payment and user management.

Starting to work with ThreeJS is exciting, not just because it is super powerful, but because the community around it is incredibly supportive and there are a billion fascinating projects.

If I had to bet on two services that will keep changing the web, I would bet on these.

Managing my time is the number one focus in a side-project.

• I have added a fixed the amount of time I am willing to spend on development of v0 and v1
• I have constrained the ratio of development to distribution as 1:3.
• I cannot continue without at least 3 relevant people meaningfully using it and getting feedback
