I could use help testing out a support tool
I've been working on https://fieldhelp.io here and there to help myself have an easy way to implement a knowledge base and support for a couple of side projects.
I'd love for some other folks to try it out and see if it's something that would be beneficial for your projects, as well. If so, I'd also love to hear your experience using it and what would make it even better for you.

Hi Jason, we finally got around to implementing this. It's working pretty good so far. However, I'm curious how we can format links? I've tried markdown, and using your link button but it's still showing the crazy long URL. I'd prefer it if I could customize the content of the a tag.

If you highlight some text and click the link button, it will add the link to the text.
However, there's a formatting issue and it doesn't look like it's been added when indeed it has. (You can verify by clicking save and viewing the live topic) I'll get that fixed!

Hey Jason! I've seen a few of these no-thrills, simple support tools pop up recently. Thinking about https://discourse.org/ used by Coda and Adalo. I'm curious, are there features or benefits that you think FieldHelp does better?
Hey Bryce! That's a great question, and one I need to think about more.
I'm not familiar with some of the new options that have popped up recently, so I can't speak to how they compare, unfortunately. 😅
I started this as a knowledge base, mostly, because I couldn't justify the higher prices of the existing tools and I couldn't find any "smaller" alternatives.
I think simplicity is what I admire best about is, so far. I picture other solo-founders that don't need "seats" or a lot of other bells and whistles using this. The idea is that you fill up your KB and then enter your email to active a support form and that's it.

That simplicity is so great! Reminds me of https://canny.io/ which is a simple tool to track feedback requests. I think there's a market for more tools like this so keep going! I'll pass FieldHelp around should I stumble upon someone who might benefit.
What's the techstack and likely cost of running this monthly as the founder?
It's a Ruby on Rails app. I'm currently hosting it on a single DigitalOcean droplet using https://hatchbox.io
