I created a list of Startup Tools. Submit your project to it

Hey Indie Hackers,

I created a directory of tools for startups: https://startuptools.fyi.

If you are making a useful tool for startups, feel free to add it here: https://tally.so/r/nWEklQ or just leave the link in the comments. I will add your tools to the website and mention some of them in the newsletter.

    Hi guys!

Today, I'm sharing key insights on selecting the right tech provider for ride-hailing, taxi services and other on-demand services, like delivery or car-sharing. With over 8 years of experience in the transportation industry and having consulted for taxi services ranging from 10 to 100 fleets, I've gained insights into common pain points and critical mistakes.

Choosing the right transportation software on your first try is crucial: it saves you thousands of dollars and lets you avoid months of exhausting feature comparisons.

    Choosing the Right Tech Approach:

    1. In-house development: This route involves tailoring custom solutions specific to your needs but comes with high costs (starting at $150,000) and a long development time (9-12 months).
    2. Outsourcing: Outsourcing can reduce initial setup times but requires significant management and ongoing maintenance from your side, often without support for upgrades.
    3. No-code platforms: These are great for building an MVP quickly and cheaply. Platforms like Bubble and Builder. ai allow you to drag and drop components to build your app. However, they’re typically not scalable and can be unreliable.
    4. Code purchasing: Buying pre-built code sounds good but comes with risks of incompatibility and hidden costs down the line.
    5. White-label solutions: Often considered the gold standard, these are ready-made solutions that you can brand as your own. They’re comprehensive but vary greatly in terms of features, reliability, and cost.

When selecting a provider, don’t get swayed by freebies or discounts. Look for reliability, robust tech, responsive support, and a pricing model that fits your long-term strategy. Understand the full cost, including potential hidden fees like paid maps or SMS services.

Recently, I developed a mini-tool that uses AI to provide recommendations on the right software for scaling transportation businesses. This tool, named SolGen, incorporates years of my collected insights. It's currently in the testing stage and available for free.

    How it works:

    • Answer questions about your business and your goals. This takes about 2 minutes.
    • Enter your email address to get AI-generated recommendations.
    • Get software recommendations directly in your inbox.

If you find it useful and if it resonates with your goals, I would be happy to receive your feedback after you review the recommendations generated by my tool.
