I created a marketplace but also sell on it now too, feel weird

So I built an online marketplace focused on day trading and investing called WeTradeHQ. I recently started a Youtube channel with a focus of automating finance and coding stock trading bots.

My channel has been blowing up recently and many of my viewers have been asking if I have a mentorship or course, so I decided to take that hint and also become a mentor on my marketplace.

Feels kinda weird being the founder of a marketplace but also being a supplier, anyone else in the same boat? Why do I feel guilty for some reason?

Hey there! I think we might have even talked about this before, but I don't think it's weird at all.... If the founders of Airbnb were renting out their second houses on Airbnb, would that be weird? If the founder of Etsy was selling their handmade candles that they make on weekends on Etsy, would that be weird? I don't think so...

The only thing I can think about is that it would be weird (but also sympathetic) for the CEO of Uber to drive for them on the side. That's mainly because Uber drivers are treated like crap and make no money, so why would he do it?

It's a great opportunity to test out the supply side of your marketplace on a day-to-day basis. Bonus points if you book a mentor for yourself to experience the other side too :)

What I think is important is that this not revenue for your business, but personal income with your usual sharing structure. Otherwise, it's messy.

Hey Dominic, good to hear from you!

I guess I just feel guilty because my head is in a different space of making the overall platform is doing well for both the demand and supply side.

By releasing my mentorship I also have to provide amazing quality for my students too, so your right it's a big benefit as it gives me more experience on the supply side and I will notice hardships and frustrations other mentors might have.

This is more personal income for sure but honestly it's going right back into the business.

      Thanks for the feedback!
