I created a personal website

https://wpmichael.com/

Hi all! Been thinking about this for quite some time and finally got around to creating my personal website.

I am a WordPress developer, I have a full-time job. I also develop a few projects of my own (plugins for WordPress) and occasionally take freelance jobs.

For some time I decided to become more public and build up my audience. Began with the creation of a personal site, where I plan to place articles on topics like WordPress development, freelancing and stages of growing my products.

I'll also be more active on my twitter( https://twitter.com/mikhail_b_ ).

Why do I need a personal site?

  • To gain some credibility as a WordPress developer. This will help with finding new freelance jobs.

  • To build an audience and find like-minded people. It will help in growing my projects, finding freelance orders and meeting people with the same interests.

  • Personal development. Before writing an article you need to thoroughly understand its topic to gain appropriate expertise.

Plans

  • Write one article of size 500-1000 words every 2 weeks.

  • Build up my Twitter audience - write there every day, comment, leave links to my articles.

  • Write a post on IH every week.

Do you have any comments or suggestions? Please post them in the comments. Thank you!

Breaking into WordPress "community" takes years unless you are willing to commit to the WordPress core. Please do not post every 2 weeks, unless you have something of substance to say. Twitter will just eat your time, nice to have, but I would not focus on that. Good luck!

Thanks. Well I was planning to publish a post every 2 weeks with some dev solutions and lessons that I learn. But it seems to me that I will post less frequently, but perhaps write more detailed posts.

Great plans! Just check if it's better to write articles every 3 days/week, but less size - so you can have better result with the same effort.

For now I decided to use my personal site as a portfolio so potential clients can make sure of my expertise.
For small contents I am planning to use Twitter and IH for now.
But anyway thanks for your thoughts. It is possible that in time I'll change my strategy.
