I created a rock paper scissors game that you can play inside your email πŸš€

Proof of concept πŸ‘‡
Rock paper scissors game that you can play inside email
As some of you may know I am a professional email marketer/developer. Last week I took a challenge if I can build a fully playable rock paper scissors game inside an email.

After some serious amount of coffee and countless test emails were sent to my Gmail, I managed to make a fully functional and playable rock paper scissors game inside an email.

Some of you may ask why it's a big deal. Well, because the game doesn't contain js code πŸ˜„ HTML emails only support HTML and CSS (And not even HTML5 or CSS3 πŸ˜‚). So I had to figure out how to develop:

  1. CSS only randomizer for randomly generated moves for computer.
  2. CSS only logic for showing who won

Why did I build such a thing?

The main reason behind this is to build something crazy to show my skills. I am running an email development service business, and that kind of interesting stuff has a wow effect.

The second reason is to utilize it for my cold emails and maybe for lead gen magnet. But after I built it, I started to get many similar ideas and how can I utilize them for my cold emails and sales emails.

So what do you think? How would you utilize such interactive components in your cold outreach or marketing emails?

I am planning to create a set of templates that everyone can use in their mail platforms but need ideas first. πŸ’ͺ

Downloading and playing APK games offers several benefits for gamers. They provide early access to new games, allowing players to try updates or releases before they hit official app stores. APK games can often be played offline, saving mobile data, and they allow access to region-restricted titles that might not be available in your country. Additionally, they bypass app store limitations and sometimes offer modded versions with extra features , giving gamers more flexibility and a customized gaming experience.

One follow-up question I have is, does it work in all email clients? Gmail, Outlook desktop, Outlook web, etc?

First off, wow! Nicely done. It isn't quite gamification since that involves maintaining interest over time by rewards along the way. Instead, it is closer to simple gaming inside an email. I suppose you could create and sell simple games targeted toward verticals, for example, Q&A games for dentists (how many times a day should you brush your teeth? how many times a day should you floss? what is the ingredient in toothpaste that prevents cavities?). There are many verticals to choose from, physicians, lawyers, insurance agents, auto body shops... the list goes on. But this would specifically play on this style of an interactive component with a question, with only 1 answer correct out of 3.

Another thing you could do would be to create a game that would increase engagement by also providing a link to the sender's website when the recipient chooses the correct answer. For example, "Correct! Fluoride prevents cavities. To see how it does this, click here: <dentist's website>"

If you are able to send the result back to your server to track their correct responses over time, you could make it a gamification tool. Think "You got the last 5 answers in a row correct! Click this link to collect your free 10% off coupon" But you'd also have to be able to track if they answered correctly on their first guess and not subsequent guesses as you would not want to reward those.

If you do pursue this, I'd recommend starting with a single vertical first, talking to companies in those verticals for their feedback, and offering (for instance) a free year of service to try it out.

    Best of luck!
