Decks is geared toward people who watch a lot of tutorials on YouTube. You can create notes using markdown shortcuts, make your own YouTube playlists and add notes with timestamps to each video, or build flashcard decks, on their own, or attached to your other notes and videos
Did I miss a pricing page?
The idea looks interesting enough. There is an IH project for which I am an early adopter that is publishing documentation as a series of YouTube videos - but those videos are densely packed with information, which makes accessing it in a useful manner a real challenge.
I'm thinking that Decks might help me to do a better job of note-taking, extracting relevant information, and recording timestamps so that I can more easily return to specific points in the videos for review at a later time. But this is a side project for me, so it's not as if it's worth a major investment of my time or money to learn and use it.
Thanks for taking a look. It’s good to hear that you might find Decks helpful in your project. There’s no pricing page yet, I’m still working things out. Currently I have it set to a 1 month trial then $4.99/mo afterwards. After 1 month, if you don’t subscribe, any data you create will still be accessible, you just won’t be able to add any new items or make edits
Even though I signed up, I did not receive an email with a token, so I was thinking that maybe that part had not yet been implemented.
Or maybe it was simply not working for me.
Thank you for signing up. Sometimes the email goes straight to junk mail, did you check your spam/junk mail folder? The email will come from the address notify@decksapp.com
I may have missed something obvious, but where can I find a user guide or other app documentation?
Also, is there an online discussion/support community for your app users?
BTW, I noticed a minor typo on your landing page in the Idea Boards section - 'inspriation' should be 'inspiration'.
Thank you for pointing out the typo 🤦♂️. there's no guide/documentation at the moment, I would be happy to answer any questions you have though. I'm a solo dev, so with this soft launch I'm trying to prioritize what work needs to be done and validate the overall idea. I have a subreddit that I created a while ago that I forgot about until now 😂, it's empty but if you want to add questions there the link is https://www.reddit.com/r/decksapp, or I can answer any you have here
For your use case, I think what you want to do is create a deck, double click to get into it, click on "videos" in the left menu, then add a new videocard. Each videocard will contain a video. To add notes to a video, you have two options. The first is clicking on "Open Panel" while viewing a videocard, this will open up a new panel that will let you attach notes and flashcards to the video. And the second option is to click on "theater mode" and do the same in there by clicking on "Open Panel." Theatre mode is essentially distraction free mode
After adding a video and saving, to insert a timestamp there's an icon in the editor toolbar on the far right that when you hover over it, it will say "Insert video timestamp."
I requested another token - this time I did receive the email and successfully verified my account.
🙌 glad it worked out, sorry for the bad experience
Yes, I did check the spam folder.
I will try signing up from a different platform than what I used earlier.
