I Didn’t Mean to Build a Startup. I Just Wanted My Screenshots to Make Sense

I wanted to see if I could actually ship my own app using the newer tools out there.

While building other things, I realized my phone had turned into a visual scratchpad.

Screenshots of product ideas, flows, bugs, references, progress shots, random “come back to this” moments.

The problem wasn’t taking screenshots.

It was that everything disappeared into the camera roll with zero context.

I tried notes apps.

Tried folders.

Tried telling myself I’d stay organized.

None of it stuck.

So I started building ScreenCap as a way to organize visual information, not photos.

What surprised me was how many different use cases showed up once I started sharing it:

• Project managers tracking progress visually instead of writing updates

• Contractors showing clients before / during / after without long explanations

• Designers managing iterations and feedback

• Indie hackers keeping a visual build log of experiments and changes

• Anyone doing research and actually needing to find things later

Same behavior. Different jobs.

It’s still early and very much a work in progress, but building it has been a fun way to learn, ship, and see something real take shape.
