Hey everyone, I'm Nic - founder of BlogToPin - a tool which help you convert hundreds of blog posts to beautiful pins
I launched ~1.5 months ago with a SaaS. And as a financial model, I started for SaaS with.... one-time-purchases. So it's more a SaaP, to be honest
Building subscription requires a lot of extra work from you. You most probably need a few plans to anchor, have to invent different features for them. You also need to handle cancellations/renewals
Damn, even create monthly/yearly version of the subscription already takes time!
So I decided to validate first and go with a OTP. $97 to receive a lifetime access to my tool. To be honest, I was super scared. I have never paid 97$ to a random dude without touching the product
Happily, within a week I got a few customers. And a few another customers a week after it
Another bonus of having "lifetime" clients is that they clearly understand it's a starting product and tolerate the bugs much better. They helped me iterate on the product, improve a million of small places and make the experience much much better
These people are also the people who want me to succeed the most. The longer I work on BlogToPin - the more value they get for their 97$. Win-Win. One of the customers even brought be an affiliate which is super great!
Now, I switched to monthly/annual plans, iterating on the product every day and improving on it
