I feel stuck
I have been working a lot on https://polyl.ink, but I feel stuck. I have expanded the feature set a bit to include custom link pages like the following https://polyl.ink/gclkdDsx, with the original value proposition being "Open multiple websites with a single link". There are two directions I am considering going.
- Productivity: Manage groups of links that can quickly be opened and shared with others for different purposes. For example, I have a user that uses Polylink to open all of the tabs he uses to manage his eCommerce site.
- Marketing: Being able to build custom themes around lists of links, similar to Linktree but for different purposes such as reading lists, affiliate links, lists of users, advertising, etc.
I would love some feedback on the above. Thank you!
The UI looks real nice.
i had to allow my browser (chrome on chromeos) to open popups.
then it seemed to work. which was cool-ish.
i feel like, if you're the designer for that stuff, then build almost anything else and people will dig it.
i get the 'Productivity' use case. i would (and do) use chrome folders with bookmarks, then CTRL+click the folder to open all contained bookmarks.
main problem is i have too many bookmarks (e.g. 50 news sites). so i had someone build me a tab limiter chrome addon but i never really followed thru with dev/debugging some of the more advanced features.
i read up on linktree -- seems interesting. if they're growing like crazy/funding/etc., then maybe there's something else there.
right now, with most browsers blocking pops, that seems like a very serious friction problem. my browser was pretty subtle, on the whole, about the fact that it blocked the popup.
outside of that, maybe just try to do what linktree is doing, but better. seems to be no shortage of people saying "Don't use linktree it's satan's spawn!"
I appreciate the feedback. And yes, the popups thing has added a bit of friction, but a lot less than you would think (I was surprised myself). For example with Chrome, you just have to enable popups for Polylink. I may take the other route though. I have plans to essentially make a micro shopify, but for "lists of things" as I mentioned.
Unrelated but you might have to look into pop-ups (the mechanism used by your site) being blocked by most browsers (users have to manually allow your site to open these pop-ups). The frontend looks crisp, however. Best of luck!
Feel stuck? Do something different. Work on another project/idea. Come back to this one when inspiration hits you!
