I fell down the fragrance rabbit hole and ended up building a marketplace

I used to be really into sneakers. Jordans, the whole thing. 👟 My first startup was actually a sneaker barter marketplace — so I knew the world of collectible marketplaces well.

Then the sneaker market started to die. The culture shifted, resale dried up and it just wasn't the same anymore.

That's when I fell down the fragrance rabbit hole. 🕳️ It started with Jeremy Fragrance videos, top 10 lists, best fragrances for this, best fragrances for that. One video led to another and before I knew it I was obsessed. 🔥

At my peak I owned over 50 bottles. It was all I thought about. I stopped caring about shoes, stopped caring about everything else I used to collect. Fragrances just hit different.

But buying and selling in this hobby was always a nightmare. 😤 Facebook groups, random Reddit threads — no protection, no authentication, nothing. I got scammed more than once and lost real money with zero recourse.

One day it just clicked — why does Grailed exist for sneakers and streetwear but nothing like it exists for fragrances? 🤔 I'd already built a marketplace before. I knew how to do it. And this community deserved better.

So I built scentfine. 🙏
