Basically, today I launched a project on hackernews (collabuml.com) which surprisingly got into the front page soon and has been there for almost 10 hours, the number of visits have been incredible (several thousands), it's the first time one of my projects gets that much attention, I'm very excited.
But, at the end, I would like to sell such product to companies, like a pro version, I have been brainstorming and while I can come up with ideas for the pro plan, I find difficult on how to approach possible customers, I would appreciate any advice on how to move forward.
I believe my biggest problem is not having a network to advertise it, and the only ideas I have include sending cold emails, and putting banners on the app advertising the pro version, but, hopefully, there are other more effective ways that I'm missing.
Thanks!
Hi @indieusre, I checked your website but it looks very technical & contains too many complex words.
I am growth marketer, perhaps you could tell me whats your target audience & what your product does, I would be able to give you some growth tips to get started. Of course for free :)
It's a technical tool, basically there are some diagrams you tend to draw when designing systems, there are tools to do that but if you want to collaborate, you need to share your screen or work asynchronously, this tool allows the collaborators to keep editing such diagrams live, think about google docs rendering diagrams.
I think my target audience could be companies willing to conduct system design interviews smoothly, and companies requiring a collaboration tool like whiteboards, which are commonly used for system design or brainstorming, which now I believe should be needed more due to most people working remotely.
Thanks.
Ok Got it man. Here's what I suggest you know.
Make a list of all your target prospects/target companies that you think they might use your tool. Make a list of those.
Then Go to LinkedIn & Start Making Connections with them.
You will need to put out content on LinkedIn Daily regarding your tool & your target prospect will come to know what this does.
Start connecting with people on LinkedIn. Make a good website first. It looks shabby landing page wise. You must really improve your landing page first before going in.
You will have more success on LinkedIn. Be consistent. Talk about pain points of your customers & tell what you can do for them. Link back to your website.
After you are done improvising your landing page for better conversions, launch on Product Hunt & Beta List. Research thoroughly before launching on PH.
Become active on Twitter as well. So all in all, LinkedIn + Twitter + Launches on PH & beta list will get you traction :)
Hope you get it :)
Thanks for the insights, I'll certainly try them.
Sure
