I found dozens of discord servers and communities of my target customers in order to try and validate my idea. But what now? How do I validate my idea? How should I approach the person? What questions should I ask? What should I do if I'm not getting the answers I need ? Please, bless me with some practical examples and show me the way of the rock star indie hacker, because my introverted brain doesn't cooperate with me and I can't come up with any decent plan of action.
Hey, you made the first step! To answer many of your questions read the book called The Mom Test. It's very short and will help you build conversations better.
Here good questions to answer for any startup:
Be open-minded, don't try to prime people to give you the answers "that you need". Hear people out. Try to ask questions about them and their workflow of interest. I think the book explains it well. It is also beneficial if you can see their face during an interview, as then you can see a body language. People usually light up once you hit their "pain" point and start pouring information on you. Another question I love to ask: "have you tried to solve this problem?". If the answer is no, then very likely they don't care enough about it. Selling something in this case getting extremely hard and I tend to just ignore those interviews.
I'll make sure to read the book you recommended me, since it popped up everywhere I searched for "idea validation". About the interviews, I really only want to work on SaaS applications, because of the engineering part of it and I'm still not really into the business part of everything, but I might have to step on my feed for a while if I want to make it work. :D
Anyway, thanks for the answer Sergey, from one fellow slavic person, to another : )
It's very tempting to do what you know and build stuff. But this forum exists to remind you that you need to focus on customers, sales, and so on. At the end of the day, as long as you solve a problem it doesn't matter if code good, exists or it's quality. People pay you to solve a problem.
