Cloud storage solutions are revolutionizing the way we store, manage and share data. In a digital world where data is constantly growing, cloud storage platforms offer a flexible and cost-effective way to store files securely. This is why I started an end-to-end encrypted cloud storage company in 2023, the risks I took despite the existing competition & how we marketed ourselves.

1. Determine your target group and niche

Even though it may not sound new, it was extremely important for us to define a small target group and niche at the beginning so that we could conduct targeted marketing. Especially due to the existing competitors, it was important not to focus directly on the masses.

2. Define your USP

The most important question we asked ourselves was how we could differentiate ourselves from the existing competition. Many existing providers do not offer encrypted storage space. We can occupy this niche because our storage space is end-to-end encrypted.

3. Free trial version

The first step is to gain the trust of your target group. It was extremely helpful for us to provide a free version that was not restricted in any way.

4. Marketing?!

This question can be answered in connection with point 1. Once you have defined your target group, you should look at where you can reach your target group particularly well. In my case, platforms such as Twitter or Reddit have proven to be particularly efficient. On these platforms, I had the opportunity to present our product for free & interact with my potential target group. Another advantage was that we were able to rely on the so-called "swarm intelligence".

5. Take risks, be motivated and look forward

Every successful company has taken risks to open up new markets, develop innovative products and expand its reach. Without risks, there are no opportunities for growth and expansion.
Overcoming risk forces entrepreneurs to be flexible and adaptable. Every setback offers the opportunity to learn from mistakes and improve.
