Developers love building new features because it feels productive and fun.
But when you’ve got zero paid users, coding is almost the worst thing you can do. Here’s what my numbers looked like:
So I had this conversion rate problem where users come to my website, sign up for an account, follow the onboarding flow, start the free trial, but never use the app again. That's when I realized that nobody knew what to do once they landed in an empty dashboard.
So I decided to stop every development feature and fix my onboarding process.
The goal: get users to their first “Aha!” in under 2 minutes. Since KitoAI is all about real‑time churn prevention with an AI agent, that meant guiding them straight to building and testing their first AI agent right away.
The new onboarding flow setup dummy data in the dashboard to show dummy charts and numbers. The goal was to give a second Aha! moment and to know what their dashboard would look like after they use the product.
I launched the new onboarding flow 2 days ago, and will share the new numbers in 2 weeks.
