I got annoyed that mockup video tools charged for export, so I built a free one

This weekend I was making videos for a few websites I had built, and I needed a quick way to create clean 3D mockup videos with iPhones and MacBooks.

I thought it would be easy to find a free tool for this, but most of the ones I tried were only free until export.

So I built my own: freemockup.video

It is 100% free right now. No paywalls, no watermark, no ads, and free 4K export.

You can upload a screen, place it into different device scenes, customize the mockup, and export a video.

Current scenes include iPhone, MacBook, Samsung, screen-only, and a few different animation styles.

I am not making money from it. I mainly built it because I needed it myself, and I figured other developers, designers, and indie makers might find it useful too.

I would really appreciate feedback on:

- whether the export quality is good enough

- what device scenes are missing

- whether the editor feels simple enough

- what would make this more useful for launches or portfolio videos
