Last year, at 47, I was finally diagnosed with ADHD. Suddenly 40 years of "why does none of this stick?" made sense — including why every habit and productivity app I'd ever tried eventually made me feel worse and got deleted.
Here's the thing most habit apps get wrong for an ADHD brain: they're built around streaks and all-or-nothing discipline. Miss one day, your 90-day streak resets to zero, and if you live with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (which ~70% of adults with ADHD do), that little "0" isn't a number — it's a shame spiral. So you avoid the app. So you uninstall it.
DopaLoop is my attempt to build the opposite. A few of the core bets:
- Goals first, habits second: habits are tools for a goal, not the point themselves.
- Forgiving streaks: a missed day doesn't wipe your progress.
- Intensity 0–5, not done/not-done: a "1" on a hard day still counts.
- An RSD first-aid tool: breathing + grounding for the moment it actually hits.
- 100% on-device: no account, no cloud, no analytics in the shipping app. Your data never leaves your phone.
I'm solo, building full time indie since Feb 2026, iOS first. Revenue is honest-tiny right now so I'm very much at the "is this resonating?" stage, not the victory-lap stage. And I need to get this going within the next few months.
My question for you: how do you market a deliberately privacy-first app to a niche audience when you've ruled out the usual ad-tracking/retargeting playbook? Especially curious from anyone who's sold to the ADHD/neurodivergent community without leaning on data you'd be uncomfortable collecting.
